John Painter, a former well known and highly respected citizen of his city, died near Baxter Springs, Kan., August 23. Mr. Painter was a son of John Painter, Sr., long since deceased, and one of the early pioneers of this city and county. Mr. Painter was born and grew to manhood on the Painter farm which is now within the city limits. Several years ago he removed to Kansas.
His aged mother, two sisters and one brother survive him.

JACKSON TWP. -- Frank Painter received a telegram from Kansas, Sunday evening, that his brother had died.
